Following an initial briefing on Thursday 4 June, 2015, the Assembly Commission held a formal meeting today (Monday, 8 June, 2015) to discuss the flying of two flags without permission over Parliament Buildings on 3 June, 2015.

The Commission received a briefing on the incident from Assembly officials which included details of a number of initial security measures taken to prevent a recurrence as well as a report from the building contractor.

The PSNI have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident and whether they constitute a criminal offence. That investigation is ongoing and the Assembly is co-operating fully with it. The Assembly will make no further comment on this incident until the police investigation has been completed.
