Speaker marks death of MLA David McClarty

The Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mr William Hay MLA, has expressed his sadness at the death of MLA David McClarty.
Speaker Hay said: "I know I speak on behalf of all members of the Assembly when I say that the loss of David McClarty is a cause of heartfelt sorrow among all of us.
"I had the pleasure of working with David for many years and particularly closely during his time as a Deputy Speaker. David was extremely able and determined fighter for all he believed in but he combined it with a brilliant wit which enabled him to develop friendships on all sides of the House. I will particularly miss that sense of humour and the Assembly will miss a true parliamentarian.
"My thoughts and prayers go to his family at this sad time."
