Members Appointed to Assembly Commission

The new members of the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission met for the first time today, following their appointment at the sitting of the Assembly last week.

The Assembly Commission is the corporate body which oversees the day to day running of the Assembly. It’s membership includes the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly and a representative from each of the five main political parties. It is the Commission’s responsibility to provide the staff, property and services needed by the Assembly.

Chair of the Assembly Commission, and Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, William Hay MLA said: “I am delighted to welcome Assembly members Peter Weir, Barry McElduff, Leslie Cree, Pat Ramsey and Judith Cochrane as the new members of the Commission. As Chair I work to achieve cross party consensus on the high level policy and strategy that impact on the running of the Assembly. I look forward to working with them over the coming years to ensure the continued success of the Assembly.”
