Supermarkets Respond to Committee Concerns on Polish Beef Imports

Response from Musgrave NI

16th April 2020

To :- Chairperson of the Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.

Dear Mr McAleer

Polish Beef to Supermarkets

In relation to your letter of 9th April, regarding the recent supply of Polish beef to supermarkets in the UK, I can confirm that all beef supplied to the Musgrave Group is sourced on the island of Ireland.  This includes our network of stores in Northern Ireland operating across the SuperValu, Centra and MACE brands.

We are acutely aware of the pivotal role the local beef farmer plays in our supply chain - on a continuous basis not just during the COVID-19 crisis.  Our 100% Island of Ireland sourcing strategy ensures them of our continued support.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Graham Winton
Head of Supply Chain for Mace, Centra and Supervalu
Musgrave Retail Partners NI
