Legislative and policy response to the risk of coastal erosion and flooding in the UK and Ireland

Synopsis: This paper examines the policy response of the UK and Irish administrations to the threat of flooding and coastal erosion, and compares these to the approach being taken in Northern Ireland. This is presented in the context of current climate projections which indicate that climate change and natural land movements will cause rising sea levels and higher storm surges for UK coasts, increasing the risk of coastal erosion and flooding.
