2. Chairperson’s Business

Agreed: Members agreed to invite the Minister to brief the Committee in respect of EU Issues at the meeting on 30 May.

The Committee noted an invite to the Chairperson and Members of the Committee to attend a photo call on Sunday 3 June, to welcome the Olympic Torch and Torchbearers to Parliament Buildings. 

3. Draft Minutes                  

Agreed: The Committee agreed the minutes of the meeting of 16th May 2012.             

4. Correspondence

Members noted the correspondence received.

The Committee noted correspondence from the Committee for the Environment in respect of the review of bus operator licensing and the Community Transport Association.

The Committee noted correspondence from the Department in respect of the Equality Unit Bi-Annual Report.

The Committee noted correspondence between the Department and the Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety in respect of the Protect Life Strategy.

The Committee noted correspondence from the Department in respect of Programme for Government Delivery Plans.

The Committee noted correspondence from Conall McDevitt MLA in respect of a bid to introduce a Private Members Bill relating to the introduction of a 20mph speed limit on some designated restricted roads.

The Committee noted an invitation to attend a Northern Ireland Water Vulnerable Stakeholders Forum on Friday 15 June.

The Committee noted a press statement by the Department in respect of the Minister’s visit to Strasbourg in relation to TEN-T and CEF issues.

5. Chamber of Commerce briefing:  The effect of rail line closure

11.39am          The following Representatives joined the meeting:

The Representatives presented to the Committee in respect of the above. Following the presentation, Members put questions.

6. Translink Briefing – The effect of rail line closure

12.22pm          The following Officials joined the meeting:

Clive Bradberry – Infrastructure Executive, Translink

Simon Corrigan – Western Area Operations Manager, Translink

The Representatives presented to the Committee in respect of the above. Following the presentation, Members put questions.

12.30pm          Mr McCrea re-joined the meeting

12.46pm          The Chairperson left the meeting. The Deputy Chairperson assumed the Chair

12.47pm          Mr Hussey left the meeting

12.53pm          The Chairperson re-joined the meeting and assumed the Chair

12.55pm          Mr Hussey re-joined the meeting

12.57pm          The Officials left the meeting

7. Inquiry into the better use of public and community sector funds for the delivery of transport options in Northern Ireland

Agreed:           The Committee considered and agreed a forward work plan and draft sign post advertisement for its inquiry into the better use of public and community sector funds for the delivery of transport options.
