The meeting opened at 10.36am.

1. Apologies

There were no apologies.

2. Draft Minutes of Meetings held on 06 September 2012

The Committee agreed the minutes of 06 September 2012.

3. Matters Arising          

Agreed: The Committee agreed to seek clarification from Sport NI on its position to the draft proposals within the Firearms Licencing Fees consultation on age restrictions for competitive shooting by young people.

Mr Michael McGimpsey joined the meeting at 10.41am.

4. Briefing from BBC NI on outcome to Delivering Quality First Consultation

The following official joined the meeting at 10.43am:

Director of BBC NI, Mr Peter Johnston.

The official briefed the Committee.

Mr David Hilditch joined the meeting at 10.48am.

A question and answer session followed.

Mrs Karen McKevitt joined the meeting at 11.02am.

The official left the meeting at 11.31am.

5. Correspondence

The Committee noted the correspondence from the Committee for Finance and Personnel regarding the Special EU Programmes Body regarding Cross Border PEACE and INTERREG programmes post 2013.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to write to the Committee for Finance and Personnel outlining its decision regarding the launch of the new version of the NI Place Name Project Database. 

Agreed: The Committee noted the report on the views obtained from the salmon conservation consultation; and agreed to defer making any comments until it has received an oral briefing from DCAL officials on 18 October 2012, subject to officials accepting the views at that time.   

Mr David Hilditch left the meeting at 11.33am.

The Committee noted the correspondence from the Permanent Secretary advising of the Minister’s unavailability on 17 and 24 September 2012.

6. Chairperson’s Business

The Chairperson informed the Committee that she attended the Health Committee’s event in the Long Gallery to mark World Suicide Day.

7. Forward Work Programme

Agreed: The Committee agreed the changes to the forward work programme.

8. Any other business

There was no other business.

9. Date and Time of Next Meeting          

The next meeting of the Committee for Culture, Arts and Leisure will take place on Thursday 20 September at 10.30am in Room 21, Parliament Buildings.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 11.37am.
