BONUSES FOR SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Dear Norman,

At its meeting on 5 November 2008, the Committee for Finance and Personnel considered your response of 27 October 2008, relating to the Committee’s request for information on the criteria for awarding bonuses to senior civil servants. Members also considered information previously sent to the Committee on 25 June 2008.

The Committee agreed to request a further breakdown of the bonuses paid to 149 senior civil servants as part of the 2007 award. This should be by department and grade if possible; but the information should not be presented in a format which would enable awards to individuals to be identified. I would also be grateful if similar information could be sent to the Committee for the 2008 pay award.

The Committee agreed that, once this information was received, a briefing should be arranged with relevant DFP officials to discuss this area. I will be in touch to schedule an appropriate date in the Committee work programme.

The Committee would be grateful for a reply by Friday 21 November at the latest.
