The Assembly and Legislation

Jim Fitzpatrick talks to Frank Geddis, a Clerk Assistant in the Northern Ireland Assembly, to discuss the legislative process, the different types of Bills, where Assembly Committees fit in to the process, and how our MLAs are supported in their work.

Jim then visits Divis Mountain to see the practical impact of legislation first hand. Melina Quinn of the National Trust joins Jim to discuss the funding made possible thanks to the Carrier Bag Levy, which led to projects such as the restoration of trail paths on Divis Mountain. The funding also allows for important research projects to be undertaken.
