The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (“the instrument”) are being made to fix inoperabilities in the retained EU Legislation on food contact material legislation; namely European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 (“the Framework Regulation”) on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, Regulation (EC) No. 450/2009, Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011, Regulation (EC) No. 28 2/2008, Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006, Regulation (EC) No. 1895/2005 and Regulation (EU) No. 2018/213 that will arise as a consequence of the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU).
