The Food and Feed (Chernobyl and Fukushima Restrictions) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019(the instrument) are being made to fix inoperabilities in the retained EU legislation on special conditions for the importof food and feed that have been affected by nuclear accidents at Chernobyl, Ukraine and Fukushima, Japan (as listed in paragraphs 6.3 and 6.4) that will arise as a consequence of the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU).
