Dear Member

On 20 December 2024 I wrote to the Secretary of State enclosing a written notification which sought to prevent Regulation (EU) 2024/2865 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2024 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures from applying under the Windsor Framework.

The Secretary of State has written to me this morning setting out his decision not to accept this notification.

I am sharing a copy of the Secretary of State’s letter with all Members. The letter sets out the reasons why it is considered by him that the relevant statutory requirements have not been met.
