The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Infrastructure today went behind the scenes at Translink’s Belfast Hub.

As part of the visit, the Committee received briefings on the way that Translink manages its services, including technology used to maintain safe and reliable services and the systems used to communicate with customers.

Chairperson of the Committee, William Humphrey MLA said: “My Committee was very pleased to visit Translink’s Belfast hub today and to learn more about the systems that they use to continually improve the bus and train services that are so important for our public transportation network.

“We were particularly impressed with seeing the technology that they use to ensure the safety of their buses and trains as well as having the opportunity to try out the train simulator. Translink provided us with a good understanding of the way that it is working to improve their services, especially the drive to communicate more effectively with their customers.

“Our visit also confirmed the vital role that public transportation plays, not just in Belfast itself, but also as part of the sustainable development of our country; something of concern to both the Committee and the wider public.”

ENDS.
