PAC hears of Department fact finding investigation

Session: Session currently unavailable

Date: 10 November 2016

The Assembly's Public Accounts Committee heard from the Economy Department's Permanent Secretary as he resumed his evidence and answered further questions about the Non-domestic Renewable Heat Initiative Scheme which could potentially cost the public purse approximately £1.18 billion over 20 years. The Permanent Secretary also updated the Committee on the Department's independent investigation into the failings of the scheme and how it was managed.

Chairperson of the Committee, Robin Swann MLA said: "While we are satisfied that the Department has commissioned a thorough fact finding investigation into what went wrong, there is still a great number of questions that need answered. The Committee will be continuing with its inquiry and we will be taking on board the findings that come out of the current Department investigation".

"We are still pursuing this as a top priority and we will leave no stone unturned in finding out what went so seriously wrong in the delivery of this failed renewable heating scheme."
