Education Committee Hosts ‘World In Your Classroom’ Event

Synopsis: The Assembly’s Education Committee in partnership with the British Council NI will host a special event to showcase the range of international programmes and funding available to local primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland.

The Assembly’s Education Committee in partnership with the British Council NI will host a special event to showcase the range of international programmes and funding available to local primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland.

Holy Family Primary School, Belfast, which is linked to St Paul Kitovu Mixed School, Masaka, Uganda through the Connecting Classrooms programme will open the event with a performance of a Ugandan song

Pupils and teachers from 20 local schools will attend the “World in your Classroom” event where they will get the opportunity to try a range of fun activities such as Chinese calligraphy and interactive language learning activities.  

Pupils from Botanic Primary School, Belfast and St Colman’s High and Sixth Form College will also connect through skype with their European partner schools in Spain and Belgium.

Media Interviews and Photography: Media interviews with the Chairperson of the Education Committee, Mervyn Storey MLA will be available.  Photography and filming is also permitted at the event.
