Committee to Hear from Justice Minister and Attorney General

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Justice will receive separate briefings from Justice Minister, Mr David Ford MLA and The Attorney General for Northern Ireland, John Larkin QC at its meeting this week, on Thursday 01 March.

The Justice Minister, Mr David Ford MLA will brief the Committee on accountability issues relevant to the prosecution of criminal cases, including the trial concerning the murder of Tommy English which concluded last week.

The Attorney General for Northern Ireland, John Larkin QC, will also attend in relation to the Review of Judicial Appointments in Northern Ireland.  The Review is looking at the operation of amendments made to the arrangements for the appointment and removal of judicial office holders prior to the devolution of Policing and Justice by Schedules 2 to 5 to the Northern Ireland Act 2009.
