Committee Event Focuses On Impact Of Draft Cap Proposals

The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development will meet with stakeholders tomorrow, Tuesday 06 March, to discuss the potential impact of draft ‘green’ proposals in the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP).  Michael Hamell, Head of the European Commission for the Environment’s Agriculture, Forests and Soil Department will present the proposals at the event.

Date:              Tuesday 06 March, 2012

Venue:           The Senate Chamber, Parliament Buildings

The proposals will slow down the decline in farmland biodiversity, most notably in intensive farming areas by making it more financially attractive to farmers to follow environmental practices.

• There will be a photo opportunity with Members of the Committee and Mr Hammel at 2.00pm in the Great Hall, Parliament Buildings.
• The Chair of the Committee, Mr Paul Frew MLA will be available for interview following the event (at approximately 4.15pm).
