Dear Chairman,

Thank you for emailing me. I appreciate the interest and work of the committee not least as a former ch airman I know just how important a job the committee does for the rural community our farmers and our industry in Ulster. It’s essential that you continue to be a strong voice for the farming community. You are correct to identify that farming cannot be forgotten. We produce the best quality tastiest and most traceable food in the world making us a unique region and that will help us in the future.

I passionately believe that we must ensure our consumers of local food fully understand the food security arguments and how we must protect and enhance all sectors in the agri food industry.

The Minister is correct the agri food sector that is proportional more important to NI than any other sector cannot be forgotten and the work of the committee is key to ensuring you are a loud and united voice at this time of crisis.

I will continue to voice the concerns you have identified and work closely with the NI Minister and his UK counterpart to ensure those messages are not lost.
