Re: Support Package for the Agri-food industry

Dear Declan,

Many thanks for your letter on 30 April regarding support for Minister Poot’s letter seeking assurance that the needs of our agri-food industry would be taken into account within any support package offered by the UK Government and the EU during the COVID 19 crisis.

I am happy to lend support to any request to ensure that our agri-food industry will not be forgotten during this challenging time. It is clear that this will require financial support and collaboration with not only the UK Government, but also the invaluable support of the EU which has been important for the agri-food industry over past decades and with whom it will be important for Northern Ireland to maintain a close relationship with going forward.
