Review of Private Members' Bills - Terms of Reference

The Terms of Reference are as follows:

a) Consider the current procedures and systems governing Private Members' Bills in the Northern Ireland Assembly;

b) Assess the available support and resources for the development of Private Members' Bills in the Northern Ireland Assembly;

c) Research the procedures governing Private Members' Bills and the support and resource available in other jurisdictions;

d) Develop and evaluate options to ensure the procedural and support framework is fit for purpose and appropriate in the longer term;

e) Make recommendations to the Speaker on procedures and systems of support for Private Members' Bills at the Northern Ireland Assembly, and if appropriate, identify to what extent changes to Standing Orders should be made; and

f) Make recommendations to the Assembly Commission, if appropriate, on the resource implications of its recommendations.
