Potential Short-term changes to A-levels

The Department issued a consultation of potential short term changes to A-levels in December 2012.  The consultation included proposals to: restrict the number of resits of a given module that  A-level students could undertake; schedule all A-level exams in June and none in January; change the AS mark weighting as a component of the overall A-level qualification; and more closely involve universities in the development of A-level curricula and examinations.   The Department’s consultation document can be found here.

The Committee for Education reviewed the proposals; sought evidence from stakeholders; and responded to the Department setting out its views. The feedback from stakeholders can be found here and the Committee’s response to the Department can be found here.
