1.    Minutes of the meeting held on 30 th April 2008

Agreed: The minutes were agreed.

2.    Ministerial briefing on teacher education

The Committee received a briefing from the Minister, Sir Reg Empey, and departmental officials: Dr Aideen McGinley, Permanent Secretary, and Fergus Devitt, Director of Higher Education Division. The briefing focused on recent developments in teacher education. The briefing was followed by a question and answer session.

3.    Date, time and place of next meeting

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 14 th May 2008 at 10.30am in Room 135, Parliament Buildings.

Agreed: Second half of meeting be in closed session for discussion on the Committee’s early findings on the Training for Success scrutiny programme.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 11:40pm.
