2. Draft minutes 3 March 2011

The Committee agreed the minutes of 3 March 2011.

3. Briefing from St Mary’s Primary School, Draperstown on proposed closure of Draperstown Library

The Committee noted the briefing summary and information on Draperstown Library.

The following witnesses joined the meeting at 12.56 pm

Dearbhla McCallion – Member of school council, St Mary’s Primary School

Bronagh McAuley- Member of school council, St Mary’s Primary School

Ronan McKenna - Member of school council, St Mary’s Primary School

Ms Corinne Coyle – School Principal

The witnesses briefed the Committee on the issues surrounding the proposed closure to Draperstown library.

A question and answer session followed.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to support the school’s case and forward their petition to Libraries NI.

The witnesses left the meeting at 1.29 p.m.

The meeting was suspended at 1.38p.m.

The meeting re-convened at 1.40 p.m with the following Members present:

The Chairperson, the deputy Chairperson, Lord Browne, Mr Hilditch, Mr McCarthy, Mr Robinson and Mr Sheehan.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to write to the school commending them on their presentation to the Committee.

4. Committee Review into the Impact and Value of Museums

The meeting moved into closed session at 1.40 pm

The Committee noted the Clerk’s memo.

The Committee considered the draft report.

5. Date and time of next meeting

The next meeting of the Committee for Culture, Arts and Leisure will take place on Thursday 10 March 2011 at 10.30am, Room 21, Ballymiscaw, Parliament Buildings, Belfast

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 1.50 p.m
