MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF
THE THIRTY SECOND MEETING OF THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE
IN ROOM 144, PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS
ON TUESDAY 19 DECEMBER 2000

The Committee met at 11.08 a.m. in private session.

The Chairman advised members that the Clerk to the Committee, Mrs Gillian Ardis, would be leaving the Assembly Secretariat on 8 January 2001. The Chairman thanked Mrs Ardis for her hard work and assistance and wished her well with her new responsibilities. The Chairman also offered the Committee's congratulations to the Assistant Clerk, Mrs Christine Darrah, who had been successful in the recent Clerk competition and he hoped that she would remain with the Education Committee.

1. Discussion of the draft Committee response on the Department of Education's review of the Publication of School Performance Tables

A copy of the draft Committee response, based on comments/views submitted to the Clerk, on the Department of Education's review of the publication of School Performance Tables was circulated. A detailed discussion of the draft ensued. Several amendments were tabled and the Committee then agreed the response.

2. Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Committee will be held on Thursday 11 January 2001 at 10.30 a.m. in Room 135, Parliament Buildings.

3. Any other business

The Committee received an update on developments in the ongoing dispute regarding the payment of a retainer fee to term-time only staff and information provided by the Management Side of the Joint Negotiating Council was circulated.

The meeting closed at 11.30 a.m.
