I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) does not hold all of the information, which you requested on 18June 2020.  In your request you asked for the following information:

“How many People of Colour work for your organisation?

How many Travellers work for your organisation?

How many people not born in Northern Ireland/Ireland work for your organisation?

How many people identify as "Irish" who work for your organisation?

How many transgender/transexual people work for your organisation?

How many complaints of racial discrimination have you received about or from your staff in the last 5 years?

Of these how many complaints have been upheld?

What disciplinary action was taken if any?”

You have the right to request a formal review by the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission and if you wish to do so, please write to me at the above address.

If after such an internal review you are still unhappy with the response, you have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF who will undertake an independent review.

APPENDIX A

How many People of Colour work for your organisation?

How many Travellers work for your organisation?

In accordance with statutory requirements, the Assembly Commission monitors its employees in relation to the categories of gender and community background . The Assembly Commission also conducts an annual survey inviting employees to declare if they have a disability.

The Assembly Commission does not monitor information on employees for the category of “People of Colour”. When applying for employment with the Assembly Commission, candidates are asked to declare their ethnic origin. However, completion of this section of the recruitment monitoring form is optional.

The Assembly Commission does not monitor information on employees in relation to “Travellers”.

The Assembly Commission does not monitor this information.

 

How many transgender/transsexual people work for your organisation?

The Assembly Commission does not monitor this information.

 

How many complaints of racial discrimination have you received about or from your staff in the last 5 years? Of these how many complaints have been upheld? What disciplinary action was taken if any?

In the last five years, the Human Resources Office has received one complaint of racial discrimination from staff. This complaint was investigated in accordance with Assembly Commission Policy and was not upheld.
