Is the food sold in Stormont locally produced?

Question 1

Does the basement restaurant canteen in Stormont buy their pork, fish, beef, lamb, poultry and vegetables from Northern Ireland sources? If not where does the Assembly purchase these food products?

Response

All meat products are sourced from suppliers who have local businesses within Northern Ireland. Meat products are sourced from livestock reared on Northern Ireland farms. All meat products are accredited by the Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC).

Vegetable products are purchased by Northern Ireland companies sourcing from local farms. An exception is given to exotic vegetables which may be imported due to seasonal constraints.

Does the Press Bar in Stormont buy their pork, fish, beef, lamb, poultry, dairy and vegetables from Northern Irish sources? If not where does the Assembly purchase these food products?
