The Northern Ireland Assembly is keen to develop positive working relationships with the media. We have a press accreditation scheme that makes access to parliament buildings easier and we have a media handbook that sets out clearly where filming and interviews can take place, what parts of the building are accessible to the media and more.

    Speaking today on the death of Rt Hon The Lord Bannside, the Speaker said: "I am deeply saddened to hear of Ian Paisley’s passing and on behalf of all Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly, I express my heartfelt sympathy to his family whom he held dear. Regardless of how individual Assembly Members regarded his politics, there is no doubt that today we have lost one of the most influential figures in the history of Northern Ireland."

    At its next meeting on Wednesday 10 September 2014, the Committee for Education will receive departmental briefings on the 2012 -13 Savings Delivery Plan and on the 2013-14 and 2014-15 Business Plans.
