1 Under Paragraph (3) of the Assembly Members (Salaries and Expenses) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2016 (2016 Determination), the figures in Table 1 increase by £500 on 1 April each year if the inflation criterion is satisfied. Where the consumer prices index for the September of the previous year must be 1% or greater.
2 Under the Assembly Members (Inflationary increase to salary) (Period when there is no Executive) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2018, in a period where there is no Executive, Members are not entitled to receive the inflationary increase to salary (note 1 above)
3 Under the Assembly Members (Salaries and Expenses) (Present period when there is no Executive) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2018, in a period where there is no Executive, Members annual salaries are paid in accordance with Table 1A. Paragraph 13 provides that the amendments will expire when all the Ministerial offices are filled.
4 Under paragraph (5)(2) of the Assembly Members (Salaries and Expenses) (Present period when there is no Executive) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2018, at the end of the period where there is no Executive, if an inflationary increase (under note 1 above) was not applied, then the inflationary increase is deemed to have been applied and the salary is increased. If the period of no Executive continues then salaries under note 3 remain in payment
