Welcome to the Home Page of the Committee for Social Development. The committee was established to advise and assist the Minister for Social Development, Margaret Ritchie MLA, on matters within her responsibility as a Minister. The committee undertakes a scrutiny, policy development and consultation role with respect to the Department for Social Development and plays a key role in the consideration and development of legislation.
Latest News
- At the next Social Development Committee meeting on Thursday 25 March 2010, Members will receive a Departmental briefing on the completed Equality Impact Assessment for the Crumlin Road/Girdwood Park development. Departmental witnesses from the North Belfast Community Action Unit and Housing Division will set out the next steps for the redevelopment of the site.
- Members will also receive an oral briefing on the Urban Regeneration and Community Development Policy Framework from Henry Johnston – Director, Urban Regeneration and Strategy Division DSD and Alison Chambers – Head of Urban Policy Review Branch, DSD.
- A written briefing on the Regeneration of the Village area of Belfast will also be considered by Members.
