Northern Ireland Assembly Committees will again attend this year's Balmoral Show with the Committees for Agriculture and Rural Development, Regional Development and Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister all represented at the Show.
Speaker of the Assembly, Mr William Hay MLA said: "The Balmoral Show is a great opportunity for the Assembly and its Committees to get together with many people from our rural and farming communities.
"Face-to-face interaction is invaluable, and as the rural community has faced much adversity lately, I am particularly keen that the Assembly is at the Show this year to give MLAs the chance to talk to people personally.
"The Assembly's involvement in this year's Show will be more interactive, with our focus being on getting together with people attending the Show and talking to them about the issues that matter to them. The Committees in attendance will be there to inform people about the work that they do and to highlight the ways that their Assembly can help the rural economy prosper."
On Wednesday 15 May in the morning, the Committee for Regional Development will be holding a meeting to hear from the UIster Farmers' Union. On Wednesday afternoon, the Committee for the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister will hear from the Maze/Long Kesh Development Corporation and will be holding Q&A sessions with the general public.
On Thursday morning, 16 May, the Committee Agriculture and Rural Development will be holding informal meet and greet sessions.
The Assembly Education Service will also be on site all three days to inform and interact with young visitors at the Show.
All activities will be held at the Assembly stand (A21) in the marquee and no advance bookings are required to visit the stand.
