Committee Praises Hard-Working Primary School Teachers and Pupils

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Education today welcomed the initial results of the Trends in International Maths and Science Study (TIMSS) and Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). These prestigious studies show that Northern Ireland’s 9 and 10 year olds out-perform international competitor countries like the USA in both literacy and numeracy, and are above the international average in science.

Speaker of NI Assembly Lights Up Hospice Appeal

Local charity Northern Ireland Hospice’s biggest annual fundraising appeal of the year was given an extra boost by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, William Hay MLA. The tree positioned at the front of Stormont Buildings has been dedicated to the local charity in support of their Lights to Remember campaign.

Abandoned Roads Need To Be Addressed Says Committee

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Regional Development launched its report, ‘Inquiry into Unadopted Roads in Northern Ireland’ today, and called on the Minister of Regional Development and the Executive to urgently address the current backlog of unadopted roads and sewers.
