The Assembly's Health Committee has welcomed the joint publication of the Report the Expert Panel chaired by Professor Bengoa and the Minister's document "Health and Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together".

The Committee met today with the Minister of Health, who set out her vision for the transformation of health and social care, and with Professor Bengoa who discussed the detail of the Report's findings.

Chairperson Paula Bradley MLA said: "We were delighted to welcome the Minister and Professor Bengoa today. The Committee is very aware of the urgent need for reform and is calling for the Bengoa report to be implemented in full. The enormous change required must be properly funded and managed in meaningful partnership with front-line staff, local communities and service users. This will take time but it is clear that the proposed changes can lead to better outcomes for all our people, rural and urban, East and West.

"If these proposals are implemented with the necessary funding, we believe that the system will lead to a real and sustainable improvement for all our people."
