The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has tabled a motion for debate in the Assembly Chamber on Monday, 9 September 2013. The motioncalls on the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to address the issues as detailed in the Committee's position paper on Plant Health and Tree Disease.

The motion is following the Committee's investigation into the issue that included an examination of a number of issues such as: DARD's roles and responsibilities for monitoring and preventing tree disease; plans for tackling plant and tree disease outbreak in Northern Ireland; and biosecurity at ports and airports.
