Committee Focuses on Disposal of Poultry Litter

Methods of poultry litter disposal will be top of the agenda for the Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 15 May). Department officials will brief the Committee on a recently published Review1 which examined alternative technologies to make the process more sustainable.

During the meeting, the Committee will also receive a briefing from Farmers for Action on Bovine Tuberculosis which the Committee is currently carrying out a Review into.

1. A "Review of Alternative Technologies to Fluidised Bed Combustion for Poultry Litter Utilisation/Disposal" has been completed by the Department of Argiculture and Rural Development and the AgriFood & Biosciences Institute (AFBI). Fluidised Bed Combustion is the technology proposed by Rose Energy.
