Brief outline of public/ political career:	1985-1999 - Derry City Council MLA 1998-Present Was active in the Civil Rights Association in 1968 and a leading member of the National H-Blocks Committee from the late '70's and early '80's. A former member of Sinn Féin's Ard Chomhairle (National Executive), has served on many of the most senior positions on the party Executive including the position of Chairperson and General Secretary. Has helped to develop the Sinn Féin Peace Strategy, Scenario for Peace (1989) and Towards a Lasting Peace in Ireland (1992).
