Education: Dolores was educated at St Michael’s Grammar School Lurgan and qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1981 from the University of Ulster. She obtained A Certificate in the Management of Health & Social Care 2000.

outline of career:
Dolores worked in Craigavon Area Hospital for six years as an O.T in the psychiatric Unit. She then moved to Social Services as a Day Care Manager in Banbridge where she worked for six years. She then worked as a Day Care Manager in Portadown where she remained until she was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly 2003.
Brief outline of public/
political career:
Elected to Craigavon Council in 1993 and re-elected in 1997, and 2005 for the Loughside District Electoral Area, she has serviced on all council committees and has been Chair of Environmental Services on four occasions. She was elected Deputy Mayor in 1998 and became the first Nationalist Mayor of Craigavon in 1999. Dolores was also chair of the Peace and Reconciliation Partnership and continues to serve on Craigavon Local Strategy Partnership. Dolores is a member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board.

Dolores also served on the Board of Craigavon Rural Development Company and the Gawley’s Gate Quay Company. She also served on both Craigavon Community Safety Partnership and Craigavon District Partnership.

Dolores was also involved in a number of Voluntary organisations such as the Loughshore Care Partnership and was a founder Member of TADA sub-regional rural network.

Dolores was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly Association in November 2003, and re-elected in March 2007. She was appointed as a SDLP rep onto NI Police Partnership Board in 2005. She is currently the SDLP spokesperson on Equality, Victims, Policing and Parades. At the Assembly, Dolroes is a member of the committee of the First and Deputy First Minister which scrutinizes the work of the Ministers and their department.
