Welcome to the Home Page of the Committee for Education. The committee was established to advise and assist the Minister for Education, Caitríona Ruane MLA, on matters within her responsibility as a Minister. The committee undertakes a scrutiny, policy development and consultation role with respect to the Department of Education and plays a key role in the consideration and development of legislation.

Latest News

• At the next Committee for Education Meeting on Wednesday 24 March 2010, the Committee will receive a briefing from representatives of the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools on the NI Commission for Catholic Education’s Post-Primary Review of Education. 

• This will be followed by a briefing from senior officials on the outcome of the Department of Education’s Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) Consultation on the draft Teachers (Compensation for Redundancy & Premature Retirement) Regulations 2010.

• The Committee will also scrutinise another proposed statutory rule, the draft Assessment Transitional Levels of Progression Order (NI) 2010.
