Audit Committee Minutes of Proceedings Monday 12 November 2001 Room 152 Parliament Buildings. Present: Attendees:Mr Tony Logue, Committee Clerk 4.05pm the meeting opened in closed session—Mr Dallat in the Chair. 1. Apologies No apologies were received. 2. Minutes of Proceedings Resolved, That the draft Minutes of Proceedings for Monday, 18 June 2001 be agreed. 3. Matters arising Members noted that the Committee Clerk had sought further advice on a possible amendment to Standing Order 58. Resolved, That the Clerk should liase with the Clerk to the Committee on Procedures and produce a final amendment to be agreed between the respective Committees. Members noted that a protocol for the nomination of a future Comptroller & Auditor General for Northern Ireland had been agreed between the Chairperson, the Speaker and the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee. 4. Salary of the C&AG (NI) Resolved, That the Committee approves that the salary payable to the Comptroller and Auditor General for Northern Ireland be revised to £105,893. 5. Audit & Accountability in the Public Sector in Northern Ireland Members noted that the Department for Finance & Personnel had launched a consultation in September 2001, aimed at taking forward the recommendations of the report by Lord Sharman on audit and accountability arrangements. The Assistant Auditor General, Mr John Savage, tabled a memorandum on the background to the consultation document. Resolved, that the Clerk produce a draft response for members consideration at the next meeting. 6. Any other business No other matters were raised. 7. Date and time of next meeting Resolved, that the Committee would next meet on Monday, 19 November 2001 following question time, to consider the NIAO’s Corporate Plan for the period: 2002/03 – 2004/05. 4.53pm the Chairperson adjourned the meeting Mr John Dallat MLA |
