Dear Christine,
DOMESTIC ABUSE AND FAMILY PROCEEDINGS BILL AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO EXTRA TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION IN THE WESTMINSTER DOMESTIC ABUSE BILL
Thank you for your letter of 20 May 2020 seeking confirmation that the Legislative Consent Motion (LCM) to extend the provisions relating to Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) in the Westminster Domestic Abuse Bill to Northern Ireland will not interfere with the Domestic Abuse and Family Proceedings Bill proceeding through the Assembly and will not delay the passage of this Bill.
I can confirm that the LCM will have no impact on the Domestic Abuse and Family Proceedings Bill and will not affect is passage through the Assembly.
You will wish to note that the Executive gave its approval for the LCM on 18 May and we hope to schedule the LCM debate for 23 June 2020.

Dear Departmental Assembly Liaison Officer
Legislative Consent Motion – Provisions Relating to Extra Territorial Jurisdiction in the UK Domestic Abuse Bill
At its meeting on 30 April 2020, the Committee for Justice considered information provided by the Department and agreed that it was content with the proposal for a Legislative Consent Motion to extend the provisions relating to extra-territorial jurisdiction in the UK Domestic Abuse Bill to Northern Ireland.
The Committee also requested confirmation from the Department that the proposed LCM does not interfere in any way with the Domestic Abuse and Family Proceedings Bill currently proceeding through the Assembly and will not delay the passage of this Bill.
I would appreciate this information at your earliest convenience.
Yours sincerely
