Committee Publishes Report on Reservoirs Bill
The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has today published its report on the Reservoirs Bill. The Committee report underlines a number of key concerns including the need for an audit on the current condition of reservoirs which will fall under the new legislation and the financial implications the requirements could pose for reservoir owners.

More Must Be Done to Tackle Agricultural Crime, Says Committee
The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has today acknowledged the work of the PSNI in tackling agricultural crime and has called for the level of focus on this issue to be sustained. Today’s call follows a briefing to the Committee from the PSNI on farming and rural crime, which included an update on rural crime statistics and the work of the PSNI’s Rural Crime Unit.

Committee to be briefed on Suspected Illegal Slaughtering of Cattle and on the Upsurge in Agricultural Crime

Committee Urges Farmers to Apply for Single Farm Payments Online
The Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has today called on local farmers to consider submitting their applications for Single Farm Payments (SFP) online. This year for the first time, the new online service will be available from early March 2014, approximately three weeks before the traditional paper applications are sent to farmers.
