 ALL PARTY GROUP ON HEART DISEASE & STROKE

A meeting of the All Party Group on Heart Disease & Stroke has been arranged to take place on Tuesday 25 September 2012 from 8.00am to 10.00am in Room 115.

The aim of the group is to provide a forum for discussion on prevention, rehabilitation, on-going care and treatment of heart disease and stroke, between Members of the NI Assembly; people living with these conditions; the charities working in the field; and the health professionals involved.

The theme of this meeting will focus on the return on investment and outcomes in relation to long term care and rehabilitation in stroke.

Key speakers will provide an overview of the evidence-based needs of people affected by stroke; focus on how we can provide solutions that are beneficial to people; and also demonstrate potential benefits to be gained by investing in community services.

 ALL PARTY GROUP ON MENTAL HEALTH

A meeting of the All-Party Group on Mental Health has been arranged to take place on Tuesday 25 September 2012 at 12:30pm in Room 29.

This meeting will be an opportunity for MLAs to learn about mental health and the challenges faced by people who are affected by mental health problems. Speakers from the Royal College of Psychiatrists will provide the group with a bite-size course in mental health and the issues surrounding it. Afterwards, there will be a discussion on the focus and priorities of the All Party Group for this year’s meetings.

PROGRAMME

12:30pm - 12:40pm: Introduction - Julie Hill, MindWise

12:40pm - 1:15pm: “Mental Health – Today and Tomorrow” - Peter Sloan & Ashling O’Hare, Royal College of Psychiatrists

1:15pm - 1:30pm: Open discussion of the APG’s priorities for 2012/13

Lunch will be provided.
