Exhibit on “Perspectives on the Outbreak of the First World War”

You will recently have received an invitation to the Speaker’s event on “Perspectives on the Outbreak of the First World War” event, which took place on 22 September 2014.

You may be interested to know that RaISe’s interactive exhibit entitled, “Perspectives on World War 1”, was launched at this event; and for the foreseeable future will remain in the Great Hall of Parliament Buildings for general viewing.

The exhibit uses multi-touch technology to commemorate the Outbreak of World War 1; outlining the historical context of the conflict, including key events between and within those countries which entered the War.  It shares the stories of 15 local individuals who participated in the war effort, and provides information about regiments which served in World War 1.   These stories profile a diverse range of people, such as nurses and soldiers, as well as poets and artists.  The exhibit also features film footage and images from the time, drawing on the Assembly Library’s collection, local museums and private family collections within Northern Ireland.
