The Mo Mowlam Children’s Park
The children’s park is located near the Upper Newtownards Road entrance to Stormont Estate. Coming out of Belfast city centre, the car park is located approximately 100 metres past the main gates to Stormont Estate on the left hand side. There are a wide variety of climbing frames, slides and swings available for children of all ages and a number of seats for parents to relax. There are also picnic tables and facilities for barbeques.

The park is fenced in and covered by CCTV cameras, which are linked up to the central control room of the Estate security.
The children’s park was originally an idea proposed in the late 1990s by the then Northern Ireland Secretary of State, Mo Mowlam. During her time in office she was a strong advocate of opening up the Stormont Estate for increased public use and the new park was part of that commitment. After Mo Mowlam’s passing in 2005, the children’s park was renamed in her memory and the official unveiling of a memorial stone took place in May 2006.
