Seamus McAleavey

Seamus is the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) since 1998. NICVA is the umbrella body for voluntary and community organisations in Northern Ireland with over 1,000 member organisations. NICVA provides support to other organisations with its information and advice services on governance, public affairs and fund-raising. It also provides training and development programmes for voluntary and community groups. NICVA leads on representational issues that affect the wider voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.

Seamus has been involved on a number of formative initiatives like the Taskforce on Active Citizenship establish by Taoiseach Bertie Ahearn and the Carnegie Commission of Inquiry into Civil society in the UK and Ireland which reported in 2010. He is currently a Board member of UCIT and Sector Matters two social enterprise organisations. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Seamus is married with one daughter and lives in Newry, Co Down.
