Regional Development 19 May 2014

Session: 2013/2014

Date: 19 May 2014

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy identified a possible drawback with the introduction of 20 mph speed-limit zones in residential areas.

"Enforcement would be a major resource factor for the PSNI and they have a concern about that,".

The minister explained that the speed limit zones were aimed at the protection of vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly and cyclists.

The Regional Development Minister also answered questions on an A6 park and ride scheme and introducing an off-street parking bill.

There was also a 15 minute period of topical questions in which the Minister answered questions on topics such as ‘Cycling Infrastructure’, Bankrupt Developers and Unadopted Roads.
