Education 25 March 2014

Session: 2013/2014

Date: 25 March 2014

Education Minister John O'Dowd was asked about his proposals for the future of the Common Funding Formula.

Robin Swann MLA wanted to know what mitigation would be made available to schools losing out on funding.

The minister said he had made some changes to his initial proposals due to concerns expressed in the consultation process.

"No school will receive less funding this year than it would have done if I had made no changes to the formula or budget. I have therefore made available a transition fund for these schools," he said.

Mr O'Dowd said any changes would ensure that "the key principle of targeting increased resources at social deprivation remains".

Education and Skills Authority, Business of Education Survey, Area Learning Communities and the Common Funding Formula were the topics during Topical Questions.
