Advance Part-Payment to Farmers to be Implemented

The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development today welcomed Department for Agriculture’s decision to commence advance part-payments to farmers participating in the Farm Management Nutrient. This decision follows a recommendation made by the Committee in March of this year.

Speaking after the Committee meeting, the Chairman, Dr William McCrea, said:

“I am delighted that the Department has considered our recommendation and agreed to implement it. This takes a bit of financial pressure of those farmers participating in the scheme and will allow them to progress the necessary works and receive up to 50% of their grant in advance of the approval inspections.

“The Committee is delighted to have played such a central part in securing this concession from the Department and calls on it to ensure that valid claims are processed with all haste.”
