Welcome to the Home Page of the Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety. The Committee was established to advise and assist the Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Edwin Poots MLA, on matters within his responsibility as a Minister. The Committee undertakes a scrutiny, policy development and consultation role with respect to the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety and plays a key role in the consideration and development of legislation. The Committee Chairperson is Ms Maeve McLaughlin .

The Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety met representatives of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust on Wednesday 19 June 2013.

Tobacco Retailers Bill - Call for Evidence

The Tobacco Retailers Bill was formally introduced to the Northern Ireland Assembly on 15 April 2013 and received its Second Reading on 23 April 2013. The Bill has now been referred to the Committee for Health, Social Services & Public Safety which has responsibility for the Committee Stage of the Bill.

Health and Social Care (Amendment) Bill Call for Evidence

The Health and Social Care (Amendment) Bill was formally introduced to the Northern Ireland Assembly on 16 September 2013 and received its Second Reading on 24 September 2013. The Bill has now been referred to the Committee for Health, Social Services & Public Safety which has responsibility for the Committee Stage of the Bill.
