Committee for the Environment
Welcome to the Home Page of the Committee for the Environment. The committee was established to advise and assist the Minister of the Environment, Alex Attwood MLA, on matters within his responsibility as a Minister. The committee undertakes a scrutiny, policy development and consultation role with respect to the Department of the Environment and plays a key role in the consideration and development of legislation. The Committee Chairperson is Ms Anna Lo.

The Assembly’s Environment Committee will meet at 10.00am on Thursday 24 May when the meeting’s focus will be on the Marine Bill as Members will receive briefings from the Department of Agriculture, the University of Ulster and the NI Schools Advocacy Group.
The Assembly passed the Single Use Carrier Bags Act (Northern Ireland) in 2011. The Committee for the Environment wants to hear your views on the Department for the Environment (DOE) plans for implementing this Act.
