Inquiry into Developing the Northern Ireland Economy through Innovation, Research & Development
Northern Ireland has one of the lowest spends on research and development compared to other regions in the UK. The Committee for Enterprise Trade and Investment wants to find out why. Committee Chair, Alban Maginness MLA and Committee Member Robin Newton talk to us about their Inquiry into the issue and what they hope to achieve.

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Enterprise, Trade and Investment recently held their weekly meeting at the South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) Newtownards Campus. The Committee was briefed on the work of the Environmental Skills Centre which is a hub for sustainable development and renewable technology and provides training in Waste Management. During the meeting Members also received a presentation from the Confederation of British Industry on the Committee’s Inquiry into Research and Development.
